How to throw the perfect PJ party without breaking the bank

Party prep that’s easy for you and fun for kids

September has the most birthdays worldwide and with the weather warming up, it’s definitely party season. But hosting a kids’ party can be a ton of work, so we’re making things easier (and more fun!) with a pyjama party for the ages.

No need for balloon arches, jumping castles or carting kids to a venue, you can bring the party and pampering to them. Tents, snuggly pjs, cucumber water, party packs and snacks, done! And it’s something girls and boys alike can enjoy. You can tailor it to what your kids and their friends will enjoy. And because kids can keep themselves busy with their own activities, it means downtime for mom and dad too.

START WITH INVITES

Choose paper or digital and create cute design like an eye mask, camp fire or tent, or the shape of nail polish. There are tons of free printables online.

NOW, A SNUGGLY SET UP

Decide whether to have it at a low table with cushions or set the stage for relaxation by hiring a few tents and then filling them with fluffy pillows and throws. Go for calming colours like mint green, ocean blue or dreamy coral. Add vanity mirrors, bowls to soak nails, cucumber slices or strawberries in jugs of water, and fancy drink glasses. Don’t forget the buckets or tubs to soak little toes in. It’s up to you if you’d like to hang a few paper decorations and signs like “Nail Bar” that can be recycled later.

TIME FOR ACTIVITIES

Create a real spa-like feel with a menu of treatments to choose from – a facial, mani, pedi or foot soak. Kids will love choosing their own activities! Make little party packs with a face cloth, eye mask, face mask, comfy socks or flip flops and nail polish. Or choose our ready-made party packs. You may also add extra gifts like lip balms and hand cream. Our WBeauty range is free of nasty chemicals so it’s perfect for young skin. You can even add a DIY bath bombs station so kids can make their own in their favourites colours and fragrances.

SLUMBER PARTY ACTIVITIES

If your kids aren’t keen on a spa or pamper party, flip the script with indoor camping – it’s always a fun idea. Create blanket forts or set up indoor tents, have some sleeping bags, and get the camp going. You don’t have to worry about mosquitos or bad weather, and you can still engage in traditional camping activities like roasting marshmallows or telling scary camp stories. A movie or drive-in night is another fun idea. Hang a white sheet and hire a projector, then make cars out of cardboard boxes that kids can ‘drive’ up to the movie screen. And don’t forget the fresh popcorn, cooldrinks and sweets!
Kids always love a good game. Look for new board games; ones they haven’t tried before, and allow them to figure out the strategy on their own. They can even make up their own games, decide on the rules and create their own strategies to win. A great way to boost creativity!

SNACK TIME

Even a fun party can take it out of you, so have some snacks on hand to munch on, and strawberry shakes to sip on. Fizzy water with fruit is also welcoming and refreshing. Find our favourite kid-approved snacks here. If you’re not up for cooking, set up a build your own bar – it can be build your own pizza, ice-cream sundae or waffle station. Feeling creative? A marshmallow with a piece of liquorice on top can look like nail polish or Chuckles can look like bath beads.
