In South Africa, the statistics are staggering: 15,9 million* people face the threat of hunger, while over a third** of the food produced in our country ends up in landfill.
For decades, Woolworths has been working towards creating a positive impact to alleviate hunger in South Africa, as access to food is a basic human right. The Woolworths Community Inclusive Justice Institute aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 2 of a #ZEROHUNGER FUTURE by 2030. This is one of the ways we bring meaning to our Inclusive Justice commitment and ensure that we LEAVE NO ONE BEHIND.

To promote access and inclusion, Woolworths is committed to empowering young agripreneurs, farmers, women, youth with disabilities and food-stressed communities. By supporting local organisations, we help them grow more food, improve livelihoods and strengthen food security. Together, we can alleviate hunger and create lasting change – every bit helps!

OUR PARTNERS AND INITIATIVES
We've partnered with leading organisations to uplift and empower communities as we address food insecurity. Some of these initiatives help children meet their nutritional needs, equip farmers with the skills to grow food, and help to distribute surplus food to communities.
