Don’t hit the road without these! Beauty insider Zipho Ntloko shares her summer holiday travel essentials.
Brush aside any unnecessary cosmetics or tools and make space for what really matters — the basics. These five items are your secret weapons to looking summer-ready in three minutes max.
Wearing sunscreen is summer beauty 101, I know, but sometimes – in the search for that holiday glow – it’s tempting to give your sunscreen a skip!
Beauty hack: Opt for an SPF50 option as this provides prolonged skin defence, but make sure to reapply it every two hours.
Trade in your foundation for a lightweight BB Cream. This is my secret to preventing a makeup meltdown, which tends to happen in hot (& humid) weather.
Beauty hack: If your complexion (T-Zone) is oily then set your BB cream with a little translucent powder. This will beat the summer shine and leave you with a dewy finish.
Forget about all the countless brow products Instagrammers and Youtubers have told you to buy; truthfully, a brow liner is the only thing you need to get a good set of brows.
Beauty hack: Always apply your brow colour in gentle upward strokes, as the pigments from your pencil will naturally blend in with the direction of your brow growth.
Facial mists are my favourite multi-taskers. They hydrate your skin and seal your makeup, which means you’ll look fresh (and polished) for longer.
Beauty hack: Look out for mists infused with hydrating and soothing plant extracts or essential oils such as rosewater, cucumber, green tea and chamomile.
When you can’t seem to squeeze in a thorough face cleansing during your travels, a facial cleansing wipe will do the job.
Beauty hack: Avoid buying facial wipes with alcohol or synthetic fragrances, as these tend to dry skin out. If your skin feels dry then a spritz of facial mist with give your skin a boost.
