Dhal Mhakani
Ingredients
- 3 T dhal spice blend
- 50 g butter (or vegan alternative)
- 4 T cooking oil
- 125 g red lentils
- 200 g baby Rosa tomatoes
- 1 litre water
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 T fresh coriander, roughly chopped
- 250 g red lentils

Cooking Instructions
- Heat oil and butter in a pot to medium heat. Add onions and dhal spice and saute for 8 minutes.
- Add the lentils and fry for 2 minutes, stirring often.
- Add the water, tomatoes (if using) and salt and cook for 20 - 30 minutes with lid off until the lentils are soft, and the dhal has thickened.
- Stir through the chopped fresh coriander. Serve.
