Stokbrood with salted butter

Ingredients

  • 2 cups buttermilk, plus extra for serving
  • 100 g cold butter, cubed
  • 3 tsp sea salt, crushed, plus extra for topping
  • 1/2 tsp Bicarbonate of Soda
  • 500 g cake flour, plus extra for dusting

Cooking Instructions

  1. Place all the dry ingredients in a bowl and rub in the butter using your fingertips. Once the mixture resembles breadcrumbs, add the buttermilk a little at a time, using a butter knife to mix until a dough forms.
  2. Divide into small squash-ball-sized portions, roll into long strips and twist around skewers or sticks.
  3. Braai over open flames until slightly charred and cooked through. Serve hot with butter.
