Meet Kabelo Moraloki. The gifted visual artist and graphic designer behind Kabelo Moraloki Art. Kabelo leveraged his sharp eye for art and design to create a selection of apparel and homeware products, that are accessible to a wider audience of art lovers.

Kabelo was born into a family of artists. His love for art was sparked by his uncle, a professional artist and in primary school, Kabelo would try imitating his uncle’s work. It wasn’t until high school that Kabelo began taking his art seriously, experimenting with his own drawings. After finishing school, Kabelo got an art residency that took him from his home in Mamelodi to Sandton, Johannesburg. Eventually, he moved to Cape Town, where he enrolled in the City of Cape Town’s Emerging Artist Programme. Kabelo has since gone on to showcase his work at several art exhibitions.

Kabelo began branching out to create merchandise based on his artworks, to find ways to build a long-term career and put his work out there on a larger scale. In 2020, Kabelo began printing his art on t-shirts, later expanding his range to coffee mugs, cushions, tote bags and more. He hopes to spread a message of hope, healing and happiness through his art, particularly after the turmoil of the pandemic. He feels it is his duty to play a role in uplifting his community and promoting harmony.

Kabelo shares the Woolies Youth Makers mentorship programme has been an insightful experience for him. He expressed the time spent with the Woolies experts thus far has left him feeling like he has the support to navigate growing his business.

In the future, Kabelo envisions Kabelo Moraloki Arts having outlets nationwide. He has dreams of opening art galleries in major cities like Dubai and New York. Ultimately, Kabelo would like to build a brand that is known worldwide.
