WBeauty is Microbead free
WBeauty, our proudly South African skincare, fragrance and colour cosmetic range has added another claim to its already extensive list of attributes. In addition to being cruelty free, toxicologist approved and dermatologically tested, we have now excluded microbeads from all our exfoliating products.
Microbeads are tiny, non-biodegradable plastic spheres that are widely used in exfoliating products. Barely visible to the human eye, their tiny size is a big problem for the environment. Microbeads are devastating our oceans and until we find a solution to removing them the best course of action is to avoid adding to them.
“Microbeads are a serious contributor to water pollution and there is urgency across the world to take quick action to eliminate them as an ingredient in beauty products. Woolworths is delighted to have been one of the first brands in South Africa in 2016 to replace microbeads in our formulations with fantastic substitutes that are not just safe for our customers but for the environment too” says Woolworths Beauty Technical Manager Deshi Moodley.
We’ve replaced the existing non-biodegradable plastic beads with natural, biodegradable alternatives like Jojoba Oil beads, salt and sugar, apricot kernels and synthetic wax beads, providing the same quality of exfoliation while doing the planet and your body a world of good.
