How to make the perfect gammon for Christmas

If you’ve always wanted to make a gammon for Christmas but have never felt ready, now’s your chance, because this cherry & brandy glazed smoked gammon is as easy to make as it is delicious.

Cherry & brandy glazed, beechwood-smoked gammon

Ingredients:

  • 1 Woolworths Beechwood-smoked Gammon
  • 2 T olive oil
  • Sea salt to season
  • 100g Woolworths Christmas Cherry & Brandy Glaze
  • Red apples, to roast
  • Fresh orange juice and butter, to roast with the apples

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Remove all packaging, place the gammon on a baking tray and rub with olive oil and sea salt. Cover with foil and roast for 40 – 50 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil, carefully peel off the rind and discard. Score the fat with a sharp knife and generously glaze with Woolworths Christmas Cherry & Brandy Glaze to coat. Add red apples to the tray, with pats of butter and a squeeze of orange juice. Roast for another 10 minutes until caramelised and delicious.

Crispy sage butter potato bake

Ingredients:

  • Woolworths Everyday Potatoes 2 kg, thinly sliced lengthways
  • Sea salt, to taste
  • Salted butter 200 g, melted
  • 2 T olive oil
  • Fresh sage, 10 leaves

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C. Arrange the potatoes on their sides in rows facing upwards and tuck them in nice and snug.
  2. Pour over the melted butter, season with salt and sage, and drizzle with olive oil to keep the butter from burning. Roast for 60–90 minutes, occasionally basting with butter to crisp evenly.
  3. Once golden and crisp, remove from the oven and serve with a fresh Woolworths Italian Leaf Salad tossed in lemon juice and olive oil.
