Less sugar and salt
We want to help you to make healthy lifestyle choices and to make healthy eating satisfying, delicious and convenient. That’s why we are continuously working to reduce the sugar and salt content of our private label food products.
What have we done so far?
2007
We removed 35.2 tons of salt from over 100 Woolies branded products, including breads, cereals, deli meats, biltong, cheese, boerewors, fish, party snacks and frozen foods.
2008
We removed 20 million teaspoons, or 79 tons, of sugar from our chilled 100% juices and nectars.
2015
We removed 3.8 million teaspoons of sugar from our lemonades and nectar blends.We also decided to remove sweets and chocolates from our food checkout aisles as part of our commitment to providing you with better alternatives.
2016
We removed a further 1.9tons of salt from Woolies branded products. And removed 29.3 million teaspoons of sugar from food products.
2017
New products are continuously being developed with our less salt and less/ no added sugar commitment in mind.
