This one contains 75% Pinotage, providing raspberry, cranberry and pomegranate flavours, while the Shiraz adds spice and blackberry notes.

Thys Louw is a South African Sauvignon Blanc expert who makes a variety of styles on his family farm in Durbanville. No passion fruit juice has been added to this wine, but he has achieved the same tropical aroma and flavour through the careful selection of specific vineyards and skilful winemaking techniques.

Spier red-wine maker Johan Jordaan sourced the vines for this wine at sites ranging between 20 and 55 km from the cold Atlantic, and the varying climates have given him great scope for blending. Johan recommends pouring it with a bacon-and-blue cheese burger, which elevates the fruit aromas of the wine.
