Delaire Empress Rose Cabernet Franc 2019
Fun Fact: The Delaire Empress Rosé is named after English jeweller and Delaire owner Laurence Graff’s flawless light pink diamond, the Empress Rose – the largest of its kind in the world.
Notes: Made from Cabernet Franc grapes, the wine stars lively strawberry and raspberry flavours with a savoury edge.
Steenberg Dry Rose Syrah Cinsault 2019
The Story: Grapes from four carefully chosen vineyards, each in a different region, are used to make this rosé. The Syrah comes from Constantia and Robertson, while the Cinsault is from old bush vines in the heart of Stellenbosch and the Swartland.
Notes: It’s an eye-catching shade of coral pink, with a soft spiciness and peachy freshness.
David Nieuwoudt Piekenierskloof Cinsault Rose 2019
The Winemaker: David Nieuwoudt’s adventurous spirit has taken him from Chile to windswept Cape Agulhas and the warm vineyards of the Swartland to create this delicate rosé.
Notes: Subtle layers of pink grapefruit, wild strawberry and redcurrant follow through to a balanced palate with refreshing acidity.
Strawberry Rose 2018
The history: Bellingham founder Bernard Podlashuck made the first South African rosé in 1951 and was an avid champion of the style from the start. It’s fitting, therefore, that Woolies’ choice of a classic strawberry rosé should come from Bellingham.
Notes: Strawberries have a characteristic aroma, bright red colour, juicy texture and pure fruit sweetness – a perfect description of this vibrant, fruity rosé.
Graham Beck Pinot Noir Brut Rose Methode Cap Classique
The Winemaker: Graham Beck cellarmaster Pieter Ferreira is always in search of “the perfect bubble”, so much so they’ve nicknamed him “Bubbles”!
Notes: Expect ripe blueberries and the subtle spiciness from the 85% Pinot Noir, as well as a bright, limestone-rich character and complexity from the Chardonnay.
