Our top coffee tips
Every cup of coffee should be a gateway to the senses. Enjoy the pleasure of the best aroma and taste with these top tips that get the most out of every bean.
STORAGE
Always store coffee in a cool, dark place. Never freeze or refrigerate coffee beans and ground coffee, as they go rancid and can easily absorb odours from condiments.GRINDING
It's important to choose the right grind setting. Too coarsely ground provides a weak tasting brew, while too fine produces a burnt, bitter brew
WATER
Water must be clear, clean and with a neutral pH. For best results, use filter water for brewing coffeeTIME
Allow filter or plunger coffee to brew for at least 4 minutes, and an espresso to extract for 18 – 25 secondsTEMPERATURE
It's always best to use water that's been cooled slightly to 92 - 96°C, as boiling water will burn coffee granules.KEEP IT FRESH
For best results, grind beans just before brewing. Always serve coffee fresh and don't reheat, or the natural oils that give it its true flavour will break downEQUIPMENT
Clean storage containers, grinder blades and hoppers every few weeks to remove any oily build-up. For coffee machines, use a coffee-equipment cleaner once a month to dissolve any mineral deposits. Just remember to rinse well before use and discard the first cup
