22 MARCH IS
WORLD WATER DAY
AND 20 – 26 MARCH IS NATIONAL WATER WEEK
Broadly across South Africa, several regions continue to struggle with severe water shortages and drought.
In the face of these challenges, it's important to recognise that water, the planet's most valuable resource,
demands our greatest attention and conservation efforts.
In 2018, we established the Woolies Water Fund, in partnership with MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet,
with an aim to transform communities and schools by improving access to safe water and sanitisation,
ensuring the conservation of this valuable resource and enhancing healthier and more sustainable livelihoods.
WATER STEWARDSHIP WITHIN OUR COMMUNITIES
OUR IMPACT, OUR COMMITMENT
Woolworths is making a difference by empowering communities and driving sustainable change.
Together, we address challenges like water scarcity in rural schools through collaboration and investment.
We are focusing on expanding water access in regions that remain in dire need due to extreme drought conditions.
We aim to expand water access by rolling out rainwater tanks, filtration systems and handwashing stations
through strategic partnerships to reduce costs, maximise impact and install water meters to track savings.
