In South Africa, the statistics are staggering: 14.3 million* people face the threat of hunger,
while one third of the food produced in our country ends up in landfill. The Covid-19 pandemic
has further exacerbated the situation, leaving many people vulnerable.

Woolworths has been working for many years to create a positive sustainable impact to alleviate
hunger in South Africa. Food security and access to food is a fundamental human right, the
absence of which truly highlights inequalities in a society. Our alignment with the UN Sustainable
Development Goal 2 of a #ZEROHUNGER FUTURE by 2030 is a further expression
of our commitment to Inclusive Justice through lasting impacts.

This past Christmas, we asked for your help in our journey towards a #ZEROHUNGER FUTURE
by 2030 and your generosity and kindness has been truly heart-warming. Your donations,
along with contributions from The Woolworths Trust, will continue to make an impact in the lives
of farmers, young agripreneurs, food gardeners and their communities across the country.

SEE HOW YOU'RE MAKING A DIFFERENCE

In order to support access to food and empower agripreneurs, Woolworths will be donating
R2.6 million in 2023 to local organisations that are positively impacting their communities
across the country.
