A decade after the dragons left the Vikings, the residents of New Berk are preparing for the annual Snoggletog festivities. Some of the kids have developed a fear of dragons as they do not understand or know the relationship that developed between the Vikings and dragons.

Deciding to use the festival to educate the kids about this relationship makes Hiccup miss Toothless and we also see that this feeling is mutual as Toothless is also missing his friend in the hidden world. Toothless and the Light Fury has children called the Night Lights who know nothing of humans or New Berk. After seeing a drawing Toothless made in the sand of Hiccup, they set off at night, to New Berk to see what it is all about.

After much chaos and hilarity, it is found that the kids have developed a new appreciation for the dragons. At the same time, Hiccup and his family got to meet Toothless and his family and made them realise that your loved ones are always close as long as you hold them in your heart.
