Garlic bread knots

Serves:makes 15-20 knots

Ingredients

  • 90 ml warm water
  • 2 x 10 g sachets instant yeast
  • 4 Tbsp olive oil, to drizzle
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp sugar for the egg whites
  • 450 g Flour
  • 200 g butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 6 Tbsp fresh parsley,finely chopped

Cooking Instructions

  1. Combine the water and yeast in a bowl and allow to stand for 5 minutes.
  2. Add the olive oil, salt and sugar and mix well then add the flour.
  3. Stir until the mixture comes together then turn out onto a floured surface and knead for 5 minutes until you are left with a soft, smooth dough.
  4. Place in an oiled bowl and cover with cling film. Allow to rise for 1 hour.
  5. Roll out the dough once risen and cut into long strips.
  6. Knot the strips of dough and place on a non-stick baking sheet.
  7. Pre-heat the oven to 180°c.
  8. Allow to rise for another 30 minutes then place in the oven.
  9. Bake for 10-15 minutes until the knots are golden brown and cooked through.
  10. While the knots are baking, combine all the garlic butter ingredients in a small saucepan and melt together.
  11. When the knots have baked, remove from the oven and brush with the garlic butter then serve immediately.
