Cooking Instructions

  1. Combine the flour, salt, yeast and sugar in a bowl and mix well.
  2. Combine the water and oil in a measuring jug.
  3. Pour half of the water into the flour mixture and start mixing. Add water slowly to create a soft, slightly sticky dough. You might not need all of the water.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 5 minutes.
  5. Place in an oiled bowl and cover with clingwrap.
  6. Allow to rise for 1-2 hours in a warm spot.
  7. Pre-heat the oven to the highest setting you can. If your oven has a grilling option, pre-heat that as well. You want your oven as hot as you can possible get it as you want the naan to cook quickly.
  8. When the dough has risen, divide the dough into 6-8 balls of dough then roll out on a floured surface.
  9. Place 2-3 naans on a baking sheet then place in the oven.
  10. Allow the naan to cook for 1-2 minutes until they are golden brown and blistered on one side then turn them over and cook for a further 2-3 minutes on the other side before removing.
  11. When the naan comes out of the oven, brush with the melted butter then transfer to a bread board and cover with a tea towel.
  12. Continue the process with the remaining dough until you have used all the dough.
  13. Serve the naan with hot curry and accompaniments.
