Cooking Instructions
- Combine the flour, salt, yeast and sugar in a bowl and mix well.
- Combine the water and oil in a measuring jug.
- Pour half of the water into the flour mixture and start mixing. Add water slowly to create a soft, slightly sticky dough. You might not need all of the water.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 5 minutes.
- Place in an oiled bowl and cover with clingwrap.
- Allow to rise for 1-2 hours in a warm spot.
- Pre-heat the oven to the highest setting you can. If your oven has a grilling option, pre-heat that as well. You want your oven as hot as you can possible get it as you want the naan to cook quickly.
- When the dough has risen, divide the dough into 6-8 balls of dough then roll out on a floured surface.
- Place 2-3 naans on a baking sheet then place in the oven.
- Allow the naan to cook for 1-2 minutes until they are golden brown and blistered on one side then turn them over and cook for a further 2-3 minutes on the other side before removing.
- When the naan comes out of the oven, brush with the melted butter then transfer to a bread board and cover with a tea towel.
- Continue the process with the remaining dough until you have used all the dough.
- Serve the naan with hot curry and accompaniments.
