Gourmet burgers with mushroom sauce

Ingredients

  • 500 g Woolworths lean beef mince
  • 200 g Woolworths exotic mushrooms
  • Dijon mustard, to serve
  • tomatoes, thick sliced to serve
  • cos lettuce, for serving
  • Gruyère cheese, sliced
  • 4 Woolworths ultimate burger buns, cut side lightly toasted
  • 1 tbsp Woolworths black truffle flavoured olive oil
  • 2 T beetroot powder
  • sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 5 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

Cooking Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil over a high heat. Shape the mince into 4 patties before seasoning with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  2. Cook for 3 minutes or until the patty is well caramelized and has developed a crust, turn over and cook the other side in the same manner.
  3. To make the truffle infused, exotic mushroom sauce, heat the oil over a medium heat. Tear the larger mushrooms and add them to the pan along with the smaller mushrooms. Allow the mushrooms to cook and brown without being disturbed before turning over and cooking the other side. Once well browned season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Pour in the cream and drizzle in the truffle oil before cooking for another 2-3 minutes reducing slightly.
  4. Add the lettuce to the cut side of the buns along with the tomato. Add the burger patty and top with the sliced cheese before spooning the still warm mushroom sauce, causing the cheese to melt slightly.
  5. Spread the Dijon mustard on the remaining bun before topping and serving the burger.
