Carni Corn Dogs

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp woolworths spicy salsa
  • fresh coriander
  • jalapeno chillies, sliced
  • mozzarella slices
  • oil, for deep frying
  • 250 g woolworths bockwurst
  • 200 ml milk
  • 2 free range eggs
  • salt, to taste
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 130 g cake flour
  • 150 g polenta

Cooking Instructions

For the batter:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine polenta, cake flour, sugar, baking powder and salt
  2. In a separate bowl whisk together one egg and the milk
  3. Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients
  4. Stir to combine into a thick batter

For the corn dogs:

  1. Heat oil for deep-frying
  2. Skewer the Bockwurst onto metal skewers
  3. Pour the batter into a tall glass
  4. Dip skewered sausages into the batter and coat well
  5. Deep-fry sausages in hot oil
  6. Remove once golden and crisp
  7. Place on kitchen paper to drain excess oil
  8. Leave to cool slightly then wrap sliced cheese around the corn dog to melt
  9. Serve with salsa, jalapeno and coriander
