Spaghetti and meatballs

Ingredients

  • woolworths farmstyle boerewors about 1.5kg
  • 2 tbsp canola oil
  • 4 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 2 tsp smoked chilli flakes
  • 2 x 400 g italian canned tomatoes
  • 3 tbsp italian herbs
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 x 500 g selected Italian Spaghetti, cooked to al dente
  • parmesan, to serve (optional)

Cooking Instructions

  1. Remove the sausage meat from the casing and shape into meatballs, slightly smaller than a golf ball.
  2. Heat the oil over a medium heat before adding the meatballs and cooking until evenly browned all over. Add the garlic to the pan and cook for 2 minutes, cooking it gently being careful not to burn the garlic.
  3. Add the chilli, tinned tomatoes and Italian herbs then season lightly with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  4. Simmer gently for about 15 minutes before tasting if extra seasoning is needed.
  5. Serve the sauce and meatballs over the cooked pasta with Parmesan on the side as an option.
