22 MARCH IS
WORLD WATER DAY
AND 20-26 MARCH IS NATIONAL WATER WEEK
In 2018, Cape Town drew global attention to the water crisis with Day Zero. Currently, the Eastern Cape, the Northern Cape and parts of the Western Cape including The Garden Route, continue to struggle with severe water shortages and drought. In the face of these challenges, it's important to recognise that water, the planet's most valuable resource, demands our greatest attention and conservation efforts.
In 2018, we established the Woolies Water Fund, in partnership with MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet, with an aim to transform communities and schools by improving access to safe water and sanitisation, ensuring the conservation of this valuable resource and enhancing healthier and more sustainable livelihoods. Since the inception of the Fund, Woolworths has provided water intervention solutions to the value of R9.2 million to schools and communities that do not have sustainable access to clean water. These actions showcase our commitment to Inclusive Justice through impactful change.
