Beauty guide to glamming it up
Our favourite beauty instagrammers give their top tips for stepping up your make-up routine and glamming up.
Cynthia Gwebu
With brows on fleek and strong bronzing game, we’re ready to take beauty cues from this rising blogging star. Need more convincing? Take a browse of her YouTube channel for the best make-up tutorials.
Her top tip for looking totally flawless for a big night out: “Set. Set. Set! If you’re glamming it up for a special occasion, the last thing you want is having to constantly run to the ladies for a quick touch up. To avoid this, I always set my makeup with a fixing spray.”

Brett Robson
Brett is practically fashion and beauty blogging royalty. She started her blog in 2010 and two years later won the Best Fashion Blog Award at the SA Blog Awards. She’s since become our daily go-to visit for insider tips on how to find the right foundation shade and how to (finally) get the smokey eye right.
Whether she’s walking the streets of China or the promenade in Durban, Brett knows how to look glam. Her top tip: “Keep your make-up look simple, but add a red or plum lip to add the wow factor. It will make you look 'put together' without a lot of effort.”

Kamo Mafokwane
Kamo’s Instagram feed is total life goals. When she’s not jetting around the world (and shopping up a storm), she’s living life in the glam lane with every stiletto clad foot she puts forward. She knows how to step up her look when heading from the office to a big night out. Her top tip: “Gold shimmer eye shadow enhances every eye colour and is the perfect natural glam look for any special occasion. Try this look with a bold swipe of matte lipstick and a hint of highlighted skin – such a flattering make-up look to take you through the day and night!”

Qaanita Orrie
Wondering how to apply the perfect winged liner or perhaps you’re looking for a fresh make-up look… Qaanita will give you daily inspiration. As a qualified make-up artist, she can tell you how to step up your beauty game for a big night out. Her top tip really comes down to preparation: “Make sure that your hair and make-up is done at least 30 minutes before heading out. Rushing to finish your beauty routine allows room for error in make-up application, forgetting to apply setting spray or spilling powder/foundation on your perfect outfit!”

Vuyo Varoy
Make-up artist to the stars (and our first lady Tobeka Madiba Zuma), Vuyo’s Instagram feed is a melting pot of make-up inspiration with behind-the-scenes images of his clients and a glimpse into his glam life. He’s also not afraid to shell out skincare advice to fellas so you’ll get tips for him and her!
His top tip for glamming up this festive season: “Make a loose golden bronzer your best friend. It's an easy and quick way to upgrade your look from day to night. You can use it on your cheeks, to correct a foundation shade and as an eye shadow.”
