The winter LBD edit
Forget all those dressing for your body type tutorials… we suggest you focus on your (ahem) assets and find the right dress to flaunt them.
We’re not interested in categorising you as pear, apple or any other fruit. You know what looks good on you because you know what part of your body is worth showing off.
Here’s our LBD guide for putting your best foot (or leg or arm) forward…
Buy any two dresses and get 20% off plus 5% off when you pay with your Woolies card. This offer is valid for a limited time only. This offer includes shortalls, playsuits, Country Road, Trenery and Witchery. This offer excludes dress sets. This offer is valid on full-priced items only.
Flaunt your arms
Sleeveless dresses or strappy slips are the best way to show off your toned arms. However, as autumn weather starts to roll in (we’re sure it’ll arrive soon) you can opt for sheer or lace sleeves to showcase your arms. Avoid voluminous, flouncy sleeves that will conceal your shapely arms.
Show off your legs
Anything above the knee is the perfect length to showcase your pins. Avoid mid-calf dresses, especially if you have short or muscular legs as this will accentuate the widest part of your leg.
Shake your middle
Cinched waists, particularly those accentuated with sheer inserts are a great way to play up your middle and highlight your curves. Avoid oversized or drop-waist dresses, which skim the middle and do not accent your shape.
All about the booty
If you want to accentuate your curves, in particular your behind, then choose a body-hugging style like a wrap dress. This will taper your waist, conceal your tummy and complement your bum. Look for thick, heavy fabric with a bit of stretch that will lift and support. Avoid lightweight stretchy fabric, which will draw attention to problem areas.
Play up your cleavage
It’s a fine line between framing your bust and letting it spill out. Look for subtle necklines like a V-neck, sweetheart or scoop neck, which will showcase, but not broadcast. A lace trim or embellishment along the neckline will also draw attention and guide the eye upwards. Avoid boatnecks or high necklines as these can exaggerate rather than cover up a big bust.
