How do I maintain a healthy weight?

I've been gaining some weight these past three years and obesity runs in my family. I've been taking my vitamins and eating a lot of healthy foods...but when I slip up on my diet, I automatically gain weight. How can I maintain a healthy weight?

Have three meals and 2-4 small snacks per day and stick to specific meal times and small portions.
