Tons of Biscuit Tins
Christmas is synonymous with foodie gifts and this year you can feel even better about giving festive fare knowing that our beautiful reusable tins showcase homegrown South African talent. We've collaborated with an array of artists to create unique tin designs that are bound to become collectables.
First up is Pigcasso – Pigcasso and Joane Lefson represent the first human – non-human art collaboration of its kind. Pigcasso was rescued before slaughter in 2016 by Joane Lefson and taken to Farm Sanctuary SA in Franschhoek, where the piggy now spends its days joyfully painting. Proceeds from every sale of Pigcasso artwork benefit the registered non-profit Farm Sanctuary SA. The tin of Dark Chocolate Chip Crunchies is made locally to a vegan recipe and the Pigcasso design entitled 'Loopy' has bright, fresh colours that dance across the artwork, depicting a sense of freedom and play.
Cape Town based visual artist and musician Amy Ayanda is well known for her paintings inspired by local landscapes. The gorgeous "Finding Joy" Chocolate Chip Cookie Duo tin features the vibrant colours of the dawning of a new day, with dewdrops adorning the landscape and honey birds breaking their fast on the nectar of our much-loved fynbos.

I AM WATER
There is also beautiful sea-themed 'I AM WATER' All Butter Shortbread Biscuit tin, featuring an underwater photograph taken by Peter Marshall of I AM WATER Ocean Conversation – an NGO based in Cape Town's Kalk Bay. Working with under-resourced coastal communities that have little or no experience beyond the beach, the team at I AM WATER teach children how to swim and snorkel, introducing them to the local ocean ecosystem. To date more than 5 000 youth have been safely introduced to their local ocean and first-time snorkelers witnessed the underwater world for the first time. The I AM WATER school speaking series has reached more than 25 000 learners.
Macassar Pottery
Elise Wessel of Blackfan Studio collaborated with Macassar Pottery on a biscuit in design that celebrates our natural plant heritage. A love for illustrative detail and enchanted storytelling sits at the heart of the botanically inspired surface design homeware that Blackfan Studio produces. All products are locally made in small batches, with ocassional once-off hand-painted ceramic pieces too. Macassar Pottery is situated within the Macassar community in Cape Town and provides young South Africans with employment, whilst exploring their creative spirit through ceramic making. Each tile made and fired Macassar Pottery features a hand-painted floral design by Blackfan Studio that was then photographed and now adorns the All Butter Shortbread Square Floral Decorated Tin.
Hope and Love
The sales from the Mini Triple Chocolate Chip Cookie tin, called "Hope and Love", designed by Cape Town based graffiti artist Nardstar, will see a R50 000 donation being made towards #ZEROHUNGER2030. In South Africa, the statistics indicate that a staggering 14.3 million* people face the threat of hunger, while one-third of the food produced in our country ends up in landfills. Woolworths' alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 2 of a #ZEROHUNGER FUTURE by 2030 is a further expression of our commitment to Inclusive Justice through lasting impacts. The "Hope and Love" tin is but one of this year's gifting options that are contributing to #ZEROHUNGER2030 and the design reminds us that through connection, understanding, deep love, and respect for our planet and all life, we can overcome all manner of challenges.
