The perfect sweet treat to celebrate Diwali
If you’re getting ready to celebrate Diwali, well we’ve got the perfect sweet treat for you, courtesy of Landi Govender of the popular The Tocka Blog. These chana magaj, also known as Indian fudge, are totally delicious.
Ingredients:
- 250 g chickpea flour
- 250 g ghee
- 250 g icing sugar
- 140 g full cream milk powder
- 1 ½ teaspoons freshly ground cardamom
- 50 g roasted unsalted pistachios, ground
Method:
- Prepare a cake pan with baking paper and set aside.
- Place the ghee and chickpea flour in a large non-stick pan on medium heat and simmer until the colour turns golden brown, about 15 minutes. Remove from the heat and mix in the icing sugar, ground pistachios and milk powder. Return to the heat and stir constantly until it turns a deep caramel colour.
- Remove off the heat completely and mix in the ground cardamom.
- Press the mixture into the prepped cake pan, top with pistachios and allow to set in the fridge.
