3 new ways to butter your corn
Few things say summer like grilled corn on the braai – just picture that all that butter melting on the cob. But if you want to turn things up a notch, try one of these 3 insanely delicious flavoured butters.
To grill the corn:
Drizzle olive oil over your mealies, season lightly, wrap in foil and braai for 20 minutes (turning often). Remove from the foil and briefly char over the flames. Top with a knob of flavoured butter and serve.
CURRY BUTTER:
- In a pan, mix 2 finely chopped garlic cloves, 1 teaspoon fresh minced ginger, 2 teaspoons mild curry powder and 2 tablespoons butter.
- Fry for 2 mins over low heat until fragrant and golden.
- Fold this mixture into 1/3 cup salted butter and chill until ready to serve.
- Dress your mealie with butter and sprinkle with Woolies Black Hawaiian Salt.
CHAKALAKA BUTTER:
Just the thing for Heritage Day: Mix 200 g softened butter, ½ tin Woolworths Mild/Spicy Chakalaka and a pinch of salt. Set aside until ready to serve.
CUBAN-STYLE BUTTER:
Mix 200 g butter, 10 g roughly chopped coriander, ½ teaspoon chilli flakes, lime zest (1 lime) then slather over the corn. Dust with grated Parmesan and a squeeze of fresh lime juice.
