Background
For more than a decade, Woolworths and MySchool has been making valuable educational resources and learning opportunities available to thousands of schools around the country.
Ours is a long-term commitment to finding innovative ways to share our expertise in, healthy living, wellness, the environment and sustainability within school communities. We work closely with the Department of Education to ensure that our content and events are curriculum-aligned and fully supportive of the country’s aims for improved teaching and learning. The Woolworths Educational Programmes engage with principals, teachers, primary and high school children, as well as parents.
Supporting healthy and sustainable living education in primary schools
Woolworths Making the Difference Educational Programme for primary schools is used in over 3000 schools in the Western Cape, Gauteng, Eastern Cape and Kwazulu-Natal. Through the teacher support material, we provide interactive classroom activities and experiential learning opportunities, we continues to make a valuable contribution to the education and skills development of South Africa’s young people.
We believe it’s our responsibility to nurture South Africa’s youths by providing learning opportunities that focus on building a healthier generation of adults that will one day participate in and build this countries economy.
Programme Objectives
- To provide much needed resources to schools in the form of our Educator Resources.
- Add value to the curriculum and take learning beyond the pages of the textbook through our experiential components.
- Promote healthy and sustainable living with the aim of influencing the behaviour of children so that:
- They grow up to be healthy adults
- They care about the environment and conserve it
- Host events and campaigns that will reinforce our messages of healthy and sustainable living
- Water Week, Arbour Month, Coastal Clean-up
