Box, screw cap or cork?

You may have noticed some of your favourite winemakers and vinters are switching from cork to screw cap or box. Why? Simply put, we've come along way since the early 1900s and don't have the same storage issues. Many winemakers now actually prefer screw caps or boxes for white wines and reds that are meant to be consumed in their first years because it esures the wine is sealed properly and that oxygen is kept out...keeping it fresher for longer. So how do you know what to choose and when to choose it?

BOTTLES DURING THE WEEK

You don't have a fancy wine cellar or wine cooling system, but you enjoy a good bottle or two during the week. And leftovers....what leftovers?
Then choose a screw cap.

SOMETIMES YOU SIP

You saver wine. It's precious. You enjoy a glass and it takes about two weeks to get through your stash.
Then choose a boxed wine.

IT'S A SPECIAL OCCASION

You know you'll drink it before the year ends, but you're just looking for the right occasion to open up that little bit more expensive bottle.
Go with a cork...or again a screw cap. The price and winemaker will usually indicate the quality level.
