How to create a gallery wall

Create a Gallery Wall with a mix of Black and White recycled frames. Megan Pedro @themood_______; blogger and stylist shows you how in her masterclass.

All you need is:

  • A few photo frames - in your desired sizes and colours.
  • Prints / Photos.
  • Nails.
  • A measuring tape.
  • Waterpass.
  • Hammer.

Step 1:

Find a theme that resonates with the style you've chosen. It's important to keep to the theme of your chosen style, that way the pieces of your gallery wall will seem organically placed.
Choose from our range of recycled photo frames from Woolworths in the various colours - white/black/natural wood.

Step 2:

Measure everything twice, make that thrice before securing any shelves, frames or hanging features. Our eyes love seeing things perfectly placed and it's amazing how quickly we can pick up a frame or shelf that's just a few millimeters off.

Step 3:

Mock up your pieces before securing them. And keep in mind you're not looking for symmetry,  you're looking for flow and what looks like natural, almost effortless placement, this makes the placement look organic, visually delighting our eyes.

Step 4:

Incorporate a mirror for a functional design.

Step 5:

Add greenery. Ferns, living herbs or even artificial plants add life to your gallery wall and create a natural contrast to your frames, artwork, photos or vases. You can also incorporate green prints to add extra greenery.
