This melkkos is so easy and creamy

There are few things in life as comforting as a smooth, creamy bowl of melkkos. Everyone, both young and old (especially the young!), will love this recipe.

Melkkos:

Serves 6 to 8

Ingredients:

  • 100 g sugar 
  • 2 t ground cinnamon 
  • 70 g cake flour 
  • Salt a pinch 
  • 4 T cold butter, cubed
  • 3.5 cups milk 
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3 pods whole green cardamom 
  • 1 vanilla pod (or a squeeze of vanilla paste)
     

Method:

  1. Combine the sugar and the ground cinnamon to make cinnamon sugar. 
  2. Rub together the flour, salt and butter with your fingertips until a fine floury mixture is formed. 
  3. Add 3T of the cinnamon sugar and continue mixing. 
  4. Place the milk, cinnamon stick, cardamom and vanilla in a large saucepan. 
  5. Bring the milk to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer. 
  6. Start sprinkling the flour mixture into the milk while mixing continuously. 
  7. Cook until thick and creamy, about 10–15 minutes. Serve hot with a dusting of cinnamon sugar.
