Animal welfare

We are committed to caring for the welfare of animals. We believe animals should have lives worth living. From birth to death, they should enjoy the five freedoms:
  1. Freedom from hunger and thirst
  2. Freedom from discomfort
  3. Freedom from pain, injury or disease
  4. Freedom to express normal behaviour
  5. Freedom from fear and distress

We don’t believe that livestock should be kept in close confinement and support the use of free range food systems wherever possible. Our free range animals do not receive routine antibiotics.

We're proud to be the first and only major local retailer to only sell whole free range eggs in our stores. Did you know that over 95% of our products containing egg are also made with free range eggs?

We have been assisted in the development of badger-friendly honey and are also supporting the development of wildlife-friendly farming protocols.

We don’t permit animal testing and our entire private label range of toiletries and cosmetics are endorsed by Beauty Without Cruelty (BWC).

Our clothing and homeware ranges only use by-products of the meat industry. No exotic skins may be used.
