Just because you and gluten don’t get along, it doesn’t mean you don’t deserve a treat every now and then – Woolworths has got you covered. There’s a fantastic range of free from
gluten products to choose from, including ready to enjoy treats like gluten free banana muffins, blueberry muffins, scones and flapjacks – and that’s not to mention the gluten free seeded bread and brown bread for everyday eating. Those who like a spot of baking can make a mental note of the free from gluten baking kits, which allow you to create yummy bakes like chocolate brownies, vanilla cake, lemon poppy muffins and even pancakes. It’s as easy as (gluten free) pie. Finally, pasta lovers can keep on munching, thanks to a nice variety of gluten free pastas, which include spaghetti, penne, fusili and even super cute dinosaur-shaped pasta for the kiddies.
Lactose-intolerant? Thanks to a process whereby the lactose sugars in dairy is broken down (making them slightly sweeter and easier to digest), Woolworths boasts a whole range of delicious free from
lactose products. These include free from lactose low fat and full cream milk, free from lactose low fat yogurt (plain and strawberry) and even, we kid you not, free from lactose vanilla dairy and chocolate dairy ice creams! (Now chew on that!)
Those among us who steer clear of gluten could consider the benefits of alternative flours – they’ve got great textures and add unique tastes to baked goods. (Case in point, the almond flour-crusted cheesecake pictured here …) Why not try one of these alternative flours in your next baking sesh? Options include: almond flour, coconut flour, rice flour, chickpea flour and potato flour.
If you’re looking for
alternatives to dairy, there’s a nice variety to select from – pick and choose between rice milk (normal and organic), almond milk, soya milk, coconut milk and also a blend of coconut and rice milk.
Apart from the gluten free products mentioned above – the baked treats, the pastas, the alternative flours – Woolworths also offers a nice selection of prepared products and meals that are made specifically without wheat. These include quiches, chicken and cheese egg wraps, Norwegian salmon burger patties, rice cakes, rye bread, and even a Carb CleverTM pizza made with a coconut flour base. And then of course there are the gluten free shortbread cookies, a wheat free treat which you could of course dress up like this picture, with whipped cream and pomegranate rubies… what’s not to love?
