Festive trifle, but make it proudly South African

Just when you thought trifle couldn’t get any better: malva pudding layered with whipped Caramel Treat, custard and fresh berries. Yes, please!

The ultimate malva trifle

Serves 4 to 6

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 kg Woolworths Malva Pudding
  • 1 x 360 g can Caramel Treat, whipped
  • 500 ml Woolworths Vanilla Custard
  • 160 g raspberries
  • 1 cup cream, whipped
  • 50 g raw pistachios, chopped
  • 100 g Woolworths White Chocolate Drops
  • 1 punnet fresh cherries 

For the shards: 

  • 200 g sugar

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Slice the malva pudding into squares. 
  2. Layer in large glass bowl with the Caramel Treat, custard, berries and whipped cream. Finish with chopped pistachios, white chocolate buttons and cherries. 
  3. Heat the sugar in a pan over a low heat until golden. Pour onto a lined baking tray and allow to cool. Once set, drop the tray onto a work surface to shatter into shards. 
  4. Decorate the trifle with the shards.
