Quick & easy spaghetti bolognese
Who doesn’t love a good bowl of spaghetti bolognese? Everybody’s favourite weeknight dinner just got a whole lot easier – adding readymade pasta sauce means less time in the kitchen, more time on the couch (cue: Netflix and chill).
INGREDIENTS:
- Olive oil: 30 ml
- Onion: 1, diced
- Garlic cloves: 2, crushed
- Lean beef mince: 500 g
- Pasta Sauce: 375 g
- Whole wheat spaghetti pasta: 500 g
- Hard Italian Cheese: 60 g, grated
- Salt and pepper to taste
METHOD:
- Heat a large saucepan over a medium heat. Add 15 ml olive oil, onion and garlic to the saucepan and fry gently for 5–6 minutes, or until softened and the onions are translucent.
- Add the rest of the olive oil, the beef mince and a pinch of salt and pepper. Cook the mince over a medium-high heat until well browned.
- Add the pasta sauce to the mince, give it a good mix and allow the bolognaise to simmer gently on a low heat; season to taste.
- Meanwhile heat a large saucepan of water and add a generous pinch of salt. Cook the spaghetti according to the packet instructions.
- Once the spaghetti is cooked through, drain and add to the pan with the bolognaise sauce.
- Mix well and serve with grated hard Italian cheese.
