How to plan a family holiday

Let’s face it – with the hustle and bustle of modern society, we don’t spend as much time as we ought to as a family. Family getaways are the perfect opportunity to spend quality time together, but planning family holidays can be rather stressful. We have a handy checklist to assist you:

  1. Booking

Decide on a budget, choose a great family holiday destination and book as early as possible. Ideally, you’ve been saving for a good few months and if you book early enough, often you can get between 10 – 30% off the price.
  2. Food and entertainment

Budget food and entertainment as you would flights and accommodation. It’s a big part of the whole experience and you don’t want to miss out because of poor budgeting skills. Opt for hotels or family holiday resorts which include daily meals in the accommodation rate. Sometimes, travel agents offer awesome family holiday packages which can also save you that extra penny.
  3. Getting around

No family outing is complete without a little exploring of the local tourist attractions; you’ll need street maps and local transport schedules of the areas you’ll be visiting.
  4. Pets

If they’re not going along, don’t forget to ensure that they are well taken care of whilst you’re away.
  5. Going international
