Our Chow Mein Sauce is an umami and nutty Chinese inspired sauce. Chow Mein, or "ch'ao mein" in Mandarin, means 'stir-fried noodles" and is possibly the most popular Chinese noodle dish. Chow Mein originated in the Northern region of the country and is traditionally made from egg noodles, fried together with sauce, vegetables, and protein.

HOW TO USE

• Store in a cool, dry place.
• Refrigerate after opening and use within 2 weeks.

RECIPE SUGGESTION

• Prepare 100 g rice vermicelli noodles according to the back of the pack instructions. 
• Add 1 tablespoon of oil to a large wok or deep pan over medium heat, add the sliced onion, stir-fry for 1 minute.
• Add the 200 g thinly sliced skinless, boneless chicken breast fillets and stir-fry for 4 minutes. 
• Add 2 julienned carrots and 1 shredded red or white baby cabbage and stir-fry for 1 minute. 
• Add the cooked noodles and half the bottle of Woolworths chow mein sauce and simmer for 1 minute. Season to taste, if desired. 
• To serve: divide the chow mein noodles into two plates, and top with sliced spring onion.
