Asian style beef steaks

Ingredients

  • 4 x 180 - 200 g beef steaks portions
  • 1/2 cup beef stock
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • tenderstem broccolli, steamed, for serving
  • sesame oil, for drizzling
  • sesame seeds, toasted, for serving
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1 tsp ginger, crushed

Cooking Instructions

  1. Marinate the steaks for 10 to 15 minutes.
  2. Heat a heavy pan on the hob. Remove the steaks from the marinade (but reserve the marinade) and sear on each side for a few minutes until brown.
  3. Mix the reserved marinade with the stock and add to the pan. Simmer for a few minutes – the steaks should be rare.
  4. Remove from the heat, season with pepper, cover with foil and leave to rest for 5 minutes.
  5. Serve the steaks and juices with steamed bok choi or broccoli moistened with sesame oil and sprinkled with sesame seeds.
