Little One's Big Day Out

“It is so easy to get caught up in your baby routine, but getting out and about is important because it gives you both a change of scenery which is always good. You get to interact with other adults, even if it is just restaurant staff”. – Laura le Roux mother of four and blogger at Harrassed Mom

Easter is often spent making the most of time we have off work, with family, friends, and of course keeping up with the demands of your little ones. This presents itself as a perfect time to get out of the house and introduce your bundle of joy to the wonders of the world around them.

We’ve put together a lovely list of activities and how to prep your little one. Ranging from snacks to outfits, we’ve got all your essentials covered no matter how you choose to spend your day.

Playdate

If you're going for a playdate or a visit to friends and family, you might want to opt for something that is quite practical. Of course it's very tempting to dress baby in her Sunday best to show off just how cute she is, but be realistic – you don't want to be fumbling her first nappy change in public. So keep it sweet and simple.

To the game

If you've decided to take baby to his first match, try something colourful that will make sure he stands out from the crowd. We have loads of cute sporty sets that will make him look just like one of the manne. “Outings are crucial for your baby to get exposed to new social settings. They are also an important reminder to yourself that there is a world outside.” – Laura le Roux mother of four and blogger at Harrassed Mom.

Let's go to the beach

Your baby's first experience of the beach is going to be quite special for all of you. Make sure you have a costume and lots of sunscreen for the occasion. Remember to not keep baby in the sun for too long and to make sure they have a towel for sitting and drying. Don't forget to pack some toys to keep your little one happy. An above all, remember to have fun!

To An Animal Sanctuary

It’s never too early to get your little one fascinated with the remarkable wildlife South Africa has to offer. Many of us are lucky enough to live within driving distance of an animal sanctuary, so pack a bag full of baby’s favourite snacks, a hat, wipes, some comfy shoes (If they’re walking), and go introduce them first hand to the beautiful creatures we share our country with.

To The Theatre

Give little one their first taste of the theatre and take them to watch a show catered to them. South Africa has an active children’s theatre scene, producing shows that take inspiration from classic tales to tell, cheery, fun, and educational stories. Be sure to take something warm, theatres can be a tad chilly, and baby’s favourite snacks in case the venue doesn’t have what they like.
