5 ways to boost quality time with baby

Are you worried that you’re always too exhausted to spend quality time with your baby? Don’t panic – it’s a problem many mothers have while their babies are small. You love your child and any time you spend with her is valuable. Here are few tips you can try out to make things a little easier.

  1. When you're tired

Invite close friends and grandparents over to play with baby to give you a little time to yourself – they’ll love the chance to get to know the little one a bit better and to give you a break. Or simply enjoy lying on a blanket together in the garden not doing anything in particular.
  2. In hot weather

Water is always popular in the warm summer months! Even a hose or sprinkler in the backyard will be a hit. While baby may still be too young to read, a visit your local air-conditioned library for holiday storytelling time can be a fun outing.
  3. Staying In

Don’t feel guilty about spending time at home. Hunkering down in familiar, safe surroundings is a very comforting experience for many babies and staying home needn’t be boring either – it just takes a little imagination. Why not investing in a water or sand table; have a picnic in the garden; invite friends with babies over for a playdate – your options for fun are limitless.
  4. Don't overreach

Try to make your plans relaxing for everyone – including yourself – and not all go-go-go. Your baby is quite happy to be at home and just with you – in fact, it’s probably his favourite place to be! So you don’t have to fill every minute with exciting activities. Rather splash out every now and again.
  5. Going out

Why not visit the beach, park or lake, or go for a fun bush walk if you’re feeling energetic? Picnics are always a fun option, so take your breakfast, lunch or dinner to the beach or your local botanical garden. Try on an outing to feed the ducks or squirrels in the park – most children love interacting with animals.
