Woolworths Rewards Programme
HOW DOES OUR REWARDS PROGRAMME WORK?
General
- Our rewards programme (“Rewards Programme”) replaces the former Woolworths World of Difference loyalty programme with effect from 20 September 2010;
- All participants must be 18 years or older and resident in South Africa;
- New customers must apply for any Woolworths Visa credit card, store card, Difference card or any MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet card (hereinafter referred to singularly as “the Card”) in order to participate in the Rewards Programme. Click here to apply for the card that’s right for you;
- In order to participate in our Rewards Programme, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions;
- The Rewards Programme is operated by Woolworths (Pty) Ltd (Reg. No. 1956/000518/07 (“Woolworths”);
- Any reference to Woolworths in these terms and conditions shall include reference to the holding, associated and subsidiary companies of Woolworths;
Marketing Permission
- In order to participate in our Rewards Programme, you agree to accept our marketing material;
- Existing Card holders who have opted out of receiving our marketing material cannot participate in our Rewards Programme. Click here to contact us if you wish to change your status;
Reward Tiers
- Customers who participate in our Rewards Programme will earn rewards (“Rewards”) based on a tiered system determined by their annual spend in our stores in South Africa (“the Tier Calculation”) calculated from the first Monday of each financial year of Woolworths which will occur towards the end of June or early July of each year until the last Sunday of the Woolworths financial year 12 (twelve) months later (“the Rewards Year”). The tiers are as follows:

- All new participants (excluding certain Woolworths credit card holders) will begin on the Valued Tier;
- Your Tier Calculation may not be transferred to another party;
- A summary of your Tier Calculation is available online;
Swipe your Card
- You are required to swipe your Card prior to each purchase in our stores in order for the purchase to count towards your Tier Calculation and appear on your Tier Calculation Statement. We regret that any purchases made without first swiping your Card will not count towards your Tier Calculation. Post purchase manual entries will also not be permitted;
- Your spend information may take up to 2 months to reflect on your Rewards statement;
Tier Upgrades
- You will be eligible for an upgrade once every quarter of the Rewards Year should you qualify in terms of the Tier Table described above; click here for tier quarter timings.
- Certain rewards are given at the start of a Rewards Year and may therefore not be available to you if you are upgraded to a higher tier during that Rewards Year;
- You will only be downgraded to a lower tier once annually at the start of the next Rewards Year;
- We reserve the right to adjust the annual spend levels or the number of tiers at any time;
- We may in our discretion withdraw, cease or amend any reward offered in terms of our Rewards Programme at any stage;
- We reserve the right to withdraw or cancel your participation in our Rewards Programme should we, in our sole discretion, consider you to have acted contrary to these terms and conditions;
- We reserve the right to terminate the Rewards Programme at any stage without reason;
Email & Postal Addresses Required
- Certain rewards will only be sent to you by email or post. Be sure to provide us with your latest email and postal address to avoid forfeiting such rewards;
- Woolworths accepts no responsibility whatsoever for any reward sent by email or post which is not received as a result of you providing us with an incorrect email or postal address or as a result of circumstances over which Woolworths has no control;
Existing Card holders
If you are an existing Card holder as at 20 September 2010;
- you are automatically enrolled in the Rewards Programme;
- you qualify for the tier reflecting your Tier Calculation for the 12 (twelve) months preceding 30 May 2010; and
- you are subject to the terms and conditions of the Woolworths Rewards Programme;
The Difference Card
The Woolworths Difference card issued to new customers in terms of the Rewards Programme:
- is issued by and remains the property of Woolworths (Pty) Ltd (Registration No. 1956/000518/07);
- is used for purposes of earning rewards in terms of our Rewards Programme provided it is swiped prior to any purchase being made
- may only be used in accordance with these terms and conditions;
- is not transferable to a third party;
- is limited to one card per participant and may only be used by the person to whom it has been issued. No secondary cards will be issued to family members or other third parties. Family members are invited to request their own Difference card;
- may initially be issued as a temporary card and will require proof of identity when used to make purchases in order to benefit from the Rewards Programme;
MySchool Card holders
- New and existing MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet card holders are automatically enrolled in the Rewards Programme;
- In order to benefit from the Rewards Programme, all MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet Card holders agree to be bound by these terms and conditions and to accept our marketing material. If you wish to update your profile and accept our marketing material please phone 0860100445;
- Existing MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet Card holders (as at 20 September 2010) shall qualify for the tier reflecting their Tier Calculation for the 12 (twelve) months preceding 30 May 2010;
- Donations to MySchool beneficiaries will be calculated on the purchase price paid for products in our stores by participants in this Rewards Programme;
Littleworld Members
- New and existing members of our Littleworld programme are automatically enrolled in the Rewards Programme;
- In order to benefit from the Rewards Programme, all Littleworld members agree to be bound by these terms and conditions and to accept our marketing material;
- Existing members shall qualify for the tier reflecting their Tier Calculation for the 12 (twelve) months preceding 30 May 2010;
Woolworths Financial Services Products
- We reserve the right to preclude, suspend or terminate your participation in our Rewards Programme in the event that any of your accounts with Woolworths is in arrears;
- All Rewards will accrue to primary holders of any Woolworths Visa credit card and store card where any secondary cards have been issued to nominated individuals;
- The rewards offered in terms of this Rewards Programme do not affect the rewards offered to Woolworths VISA credit card holders;
- Holders of the Woolworths Black credit card will automatically be enrolled in the Rewards Programme on the VIP Tier for one year and be subject to these terms and conditions in order to benefit;
- Customers with personal loans only are currently not included in the Rewards Programme;
Exclusions & deductions
- The purchase of any Woolworths gift card shall not be included in your Tier Calculation;
- The special lower prices offered as a benefit of our Rewards Programme will not be available for online purchases. Online purchases will however be included in your Tier Calculation;
- Payments of utility bills will not be included in your Tier Calculation;
- The value of any products returned to us will be deducted from your Tier Calculation;
Country Road & Trenery Purchases
- Purchases at any Country Road or Trenery stand-alone stores in South Africa will be included in your Tier Calculation;
Online purchases
- Online purchases will be included in your Tier Calculation;
Purchases at Woolworths Foodstops at Engen
- WRewards are not available at Woolworths Foodstops at Engen
- Purchases at any Woolworths Foodstops at Engen in South Africa will be included in your Tier Calculation;
Woolworths Employees
- Woolworths employees may participate in the Rewards Programme and benefit from the rewards offered excluding the voucher offers given in to Loyal and VIP Tier members.

Valued, Loyal & VIP Tier members all receive the following rewards:
Special lower prices:
- Participants across all tiers will enjoy special lower prices on selected products in our stores for limited periods from time to time. Please note that not all products are available in all stores and special offers may change without notice. Click here to see our current offers;
- Woolworths reserves the right to amend or cease any special lower price offers at any stage;
- Special lower prices will not be offered at any Engen Foodstop stores in South Africa or online;
Access to our online edition World Magazine
Sales previews:
- We reserve the first hour and half of our sales for Card holders to give you the chance to get first pick of sale merchandise;
Loyal & VIP Tier members receive the following additional rewards:
Welcome to next tier email voucher:
- the voucher offers a discount for a limited period on your next purchase;
- the voucher is subject to terms and conditions that appear on the front of the voucher;
- this reward will only be sent by email and stands to be forfeited in the event that you do not have an email address or your email address is incorrect or not received by you as a result of circumstances beyond our control.
World Magazine:
- participants in our Rewards Proramme will receive the World Magazine publication;
- participants who are upgraded to a higher tier during any Rewards Year will receive the subscriptions remaining for the balance of that Rewards Year.
Vouchers:
- the vouchers offer a discount for a limited period on your next purchase;
- the vouchers are subject to terms and conditions that appear on the front of each voucher;
- the vouchers may require a minimum purchase value on your next purchase in order for the voucher discount to apply;
- the vouchers will be sent to your postal address. This reward will be forfeited in the event that we do not have your postal address or the correct postal address or the voucher offer is not received as a result of circumstances beyond our control;
VIP Tier additional reward
Welcome to VIP tier email voucher:
- the voucher offers a discount for a limited period on your next purchase;
- the voucher is subject to terms and conditions that appear on the front of the voucher;
- the voucher will only be sent by email and stands to be forfeited in the event that you do not have an email address or your email address is incorrect or not received by you as a result of circumstances beyond our control;
Birthday email voucher to celebrate your special day:
- the voucher offers a discount for a limited period on your next purchase;
- the voucher is subject to terms and conditions that appear on the front of the voucher;
- the voucher will only be sent by email and stands to be forfeited in the event that you do not have an email address or your email address is incorrect or is not received by you as a result of circumstances beyond our control;
Additional email vouchers issued by 30 June of each Rewards Year:
- 2 (two) vouchers offering R250 off your next purchase of Country Road or Trenery clothing to the value of R1000 (one thousand rand);
- 1 (one) voucher voucher offering R250 off your next purchase of beauty products to the value of R1000 (one thousand rand)
- 1 (one) voucher offering R250 off your next purchase of any home products to the value of R1000 (one thousand rand);
- the vouchers are subject to terms and conditions that appear on the front of each voucher;
- these vouchers will only be sent by email and stand to be forfeited in the event that you do not have an email address or your email address is incorrect or the vouchers not received by you as a result of circumstances beyond our control.
